The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has released the final rules that will govern the manufacture of consumable hemp products in Texas, which go into effect on August 2, 2020. DSHS will be using an online process for both licensing of consumable hemp manufacturers and distributors and registration of retail sellers of consumable hemp products containing CBD.
During the rule adoption period, DSHS will accept applications for Consumable Hemp Product licenses. Licenses will not be issued until after the rules become effective. An online application can be started by going to Business and Professional Licenses. Applicants can use this helpful checklist to account for and submit all items required for the application.
Applications for retailers to register with DSHS will be available as soon as rules are effective. Retailers will be able to submit applications online and print their registration upon payment. Please this website frequently for the most up to date information. We will also keep you updated as more information is available.
Update: So far we have an amazing lineup of speakers and panelists for our Texas Veteran Cannabis Conference (10/17/20)! We will be joined by Commissioner Miller, Jordan Tishler, MD, Bryon Adinoff, MD, Wendy Askew, MD, Darina Douchi, Pharm(D) as well as two panels of veterans that will focus on Pain, PTSD and Cannabis as well as Veteran Engagement. We will have the registration link ready soon. We are currently looking for sponsors. These sponsorships will enable us to offer lower ticket pricing to enable more veteran and patient participation. Our hope is to also be able to offer some free tickets to veterans.
Note: Our Resource Director, Nishi Whitely, has teamed up with acclaimed endocannabinoid scientist Ethan Russo to create CReDO Science, and they’re off to a running start. Their research focuses on how to apply cannabis to balance the health of the ECS and help treat disease, and by creating market-disrupting technologies that utilize this research to create solutions and products. Learn more about in this recent article. We just wanted to share some of the exciting things our team is up to!
Thanks to some generous supporters, we are closing in on our office fundraising goal! We hope to reach it by the end of July. Any donation that you can make to help keep us in our office and working through the legislative session is greatly appreciated (and tax deductible).
